My foam board over time has been curling causing reception issues. I may rebuild it or tack it to a board.Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03830547609290137489noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6433063290185630905.post-38570874223257585092018-10-09T14:15:45.273-07:002018-10-09T14:15:45.273-07:00built this to compare with my "whisker" ...built this to compare with my "whisker" style antenna...with used stripped solid core #10 wire for the whiskers, and a reflector that (inatead of tge recommended chicken wire) was actually the mesh of copper tubes off the back of a refridgerator. Whiskers and reflector were mounted to just a piece of wood. With that one, i got 43 channels (10 more than,TV Fool predicted), but wind would cause tge channels to go in and out as it blew the whiskers around. So i thought id try this one, and instead of foam board, i used two pieces of acrylic, sandwhiching the antenna in between. Sealed the edge all around with silicone and mounted it on a roof mast qhere the original had been.End result? 36 channels.

I came back, because i know I just bought whatever width copper tape I could find, and no reguards to the thickness. I followed the link and see you used 1/4" wide tape. Im really contemplating ordering the recommended roll just to see the difference, as such small things usually have a large impact. I mean, why NOT?

Have you, or anyone else on here, ever tried pairing this with a reflector? it would cut down als from behind, true, but for folks like me who recieve primarily from a sibgle direction....? thoughts?JohnIan84https://www.blogger.com/profile/16887131575653473462noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6433063290185630905.post-79909134771109624772017-04-18T14:04:18.442-07:002017-04-18T14:04:18.442-07:00Just built one of these. Each "square" section's side could be cut to 1/4 wavelengths of the desired channel's frequency. A VHF element could encase this whole antenna around the outside perimeter, thus giving access to lowband VHF channels 2-6 or 7-13.
